Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members,

Welcome to Poplar Bluff High School, home to nearly 1,400 students and one of the most comprehensive educational programs in Southeast Missouri. I am proud to lead a school where the work we do every day is about more than earning a diploma — it is about preparing young people to lead meaningful, successful lives.

At PBHS, we are committed to building positive relationships with every student and creating an environment where learning comes first. Our staff — nearly 100 certified and classified professionals — works collaboratively as a Professional Learning Community to ensure every student is challenged, supported, and on a path to graduation and beyond.

We offer one of the most robust arrays of academic opportunities in the region, including dual credit courses through Three Rivers College, Advanced Placement courses, vocational programs on campus and at the Technical Career Center, and a full continuum of graduation support — from tutoring and credit recovery to the Missouri Options Program. Every student who walks on this campus has a path to graduation, and it is our job to help them find it.

About Our School

Poplar Bluff High School has served the community since the late 19th Century, and today it stands as one of the most comprehensive high schools in Southeast Missouri. Serving nearly 1,400 students in grades 9-12, PBHS offers a wide range of academic pathways designed to prepare every student for life after graduation — whether that means college, career, or military service.

Academically, PBHS offers dual credit courses through Three Rivers College, Advanced Placement coursework, and Project Lead the Way career and engineering pathways. More recently, the school has been awarded $50,000 to establish three Project Lead the Way career pathways, expanding opportunities for students in high-demand fields. A full continuum of graduation support — including tutoring, credit recovery, the Missouri Options Program, and the Bright Futures partnership — ensures every student has a path forward.

Beyond the classroom, PBHS has been named a National Banner School by Special Olympics for cultivating a welcoming climate for students with and without intellectual disabilities. The PBHS Student Council holds the state presidency of the Missouri Association of Student Councils, reflecting a strong culture of student leadership and civic engagement. And the Mules athletic tradition runs deep — the PBHS Boys Golf Program alone has captured several state championships and more top-four state finishes than any other public school in Missouri history, earning induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
